My X-men Collection part 1

Pretty much all of my writing energy at this point is going into editing volume 2 of The Hinges of Destiny, trying to get it ready so I can start posting on the site again. The entirety of volume 1 is now up for reading if you haven't checked it out yet. I'll be honest, I would feel massively guilty if I took the time to write an entry right now instead. Apparently taking time to film and edit videos does not cause that guilt however, so here's the first in a series of my X-men collection.

I start off by doing a mini review of X-men: First Class's bluray release, and then show you my VHS tapes, stuffed Wolverine, DVDs, SNES game, and t-shirts. Being me, I also tell you some stories about these various items, so this isn't just a slideshow. And yes, there is a Logan cameo.

I filmed twice as much material as you see here and technically have a little more to do, so there will be a part 2 for sure and possibly also a part 3 coming soon.

  1. Nice vid, but some points:

Emma frost is in wolverine near the end of the movie. She looks 18-ish. Not mentioned by name, but she turns into diamond.

Not really sure why they tried to tie in the other x-men franchise on the BD feature, because first class is a reboot. (no contradictions therefore in the movie)

Whoa you still have video cassettes! all those old spider-mans are on DVD now :-) upgrade!

Nice tshirts! you could always have some made at a printing place if you can't find the designs you want. Take pics on a flash drive, make sure they are a decent resolution.

  2. Thanks for the compliment and the comment!

I'm aware of Emma being in Wolverine, I was commenting that when they prepared her special feature, they chose to ignore it since there is absolutely no way they could possibly make it fit. I don't script these vids so its possible my words came out wrong.

I've heard a lot of conflicting comments from different sources about whether or not First Class is a true reboot. Seeing as how the movie is awesome, I don't really care either way. But clearly someone at Fox doesn't want us to think it's a reboot.

The Spider-man cartoons are also on Netflix Streaming. :)

There are tons more choices these days, both due to technology and the popularity of the X-men. I could probably now have a new one for every day of the month if I wanted. But I love that my Rogue shirt is one of a kind.

  3. Bryan Singer himself said it was a reboot.... not sure why fox would now be saying it isn't, considering they also said it was a reboot....

    Nothing to debate about really.

Netflix etc is ok, but owning the actual DVDs is preferred. Netflix wont always be available but your hard copies will ;-)

You putting up part 2 of ya vid soon? :-)

  4. Soon-ish. Family illness and the need to reshoot some of the video is pushing it back a bit. But I plan to get back to my more regular update schedule in October, so it won't be too much longer.

  5. I actually quite like all of the behind the scenes material on X-Men 1.5. It's got a nice, raw, in-the-moment feel as you get an intimate look at the making of the film, often with amusing little bits like trying to get Magneto's helmet just right.

My favorite bit is on the first day of shooting at the base of the Statue of Liberty, where the heroes, in full costume, marches down a sidewalk and have to step up a ledge that's just a foot, maybe foot-and-a-half off the ground... and they trip all over themselves because they can't lift their legs high enough in their newly made, never worn leather jumpsuits. James Marsden starts going through some stretches and you hear this loud ripping. The other actors are shocked until he guides them through how to "rip" the leather in order to loosen it up and allow more movement. I could just imagine someone from the costuming department going into fits of rage.

  6. One of the things I realized after doing this one is that I hadn't watched any of that stuff in ages, so I shouldn't have been commenting on it really. I need to revisit them sometime.
