Castle Rock Companion - Sometimes They Come Back
While Noel will be handling the two sequels alone, I'll post them here on the blog as well so you can keep up. Expect the first one to be up next week.
Also, don't forget to stay past the credits on this one for the requisite cat appearance. :)

The last time I saw this, I thought it was a reasonably faithful adaptation. Re-watching it the other day, I totally agree with you. The setup is still pretty faithful, and I love the actors playing the demon greasers, but I forgot how awkwardly drawn out and melodramatic everything is, and just how thoroughly they disposed of the story's excellent ending in favor of the schmaltz they use. Your captions over it are hilarious. :D
ReplyDeleteNow, on to the sequels...
I made it a point to watch the movie twice this time, just to make sure I hadn't missed any details or was maybe not giving it a fair shot. Nope, it was just as awful the second time around if not even more so. Hence the reason those captions exist. :) Glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteI am very curious to see if the sequels will be just as painful or an improvement on this film, even if they won't have anything to do with the original story at all.
I haven't seen this one in a long time. I remember liking Tim Matheson and Brooke Adams, and thinking that overall it was watchable but nothing special. And -- obviously -- nowhere near as good as the original story.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see this one get a nasty- low-budget remake someday and stick with the story. That could be a messed-up little horror flick, there.
Agreed! I wonder if anyone ever attempted to make a dollar baby out of it.
DeleteI Googled it and came up with nothing; but there's about a bajillion of those things out there, so it wouldn't surprise me.
