It is difficult to believe that the same director made "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" and "Poltergeist." (In the case of "Poltergeist," it is LITERALLY difficult to believe...)
It's a terrible movie, but I am kind of in awe of it. Not to the same extent as I am of "Maximum Overdrive," but in a similar way.
The short story, on the other hand, is terrific. It deserved much better! But that said, I don't know how you get across some of those ideas on film.
Thanks to Tobe Hooper's movie, though, I know how you DON'T do it.
