Castle Rock Companion - Graveyard Shift

  1. Somehow I didn't realize that this one had been adapted. I'm with you in that it's some of his weaker work, so it's not something I feel strongly about as an adaptation either way. I look forward to your thoughts on Carrie, as I have MANY.

    1. I didn't know about it myself until I started doing the research for this project. But knowing how much you love cheesy movies, I think you would enjoy this one. :)

    2. Cheesy is right. I don't always love cheesy movies, but I definitely love them sometimes, and while I can't quite claim to love this one, I have found it growing on me over the years. I really regret that William Shatner isn't in it somewhere; he would have put it over the top.

By the way, I agree that rats and bats are cute. And the rats in this movie are freakin' adorable. I don't know how anyone could find them menacing. Rats CAN be menacing, sure; when they're wild, they can be terrifying. But these rats look like they've been living in the rat equivalent of a five-star hotel for their entire lives.

As for bats...I work in a movie theatre, and a few years ago, one of the overnight janitors caught a little bat that had gotten inside. He had him inside a glass jar, and was going to take him home. Cutest little thing you've ever seen.

    3. I've been feeling like I need to watch this one again, so it's quite possible it could grow on me a little more too.

I remember one time back when I was living at home, my stepmother was at the kitchen sink washing dishes, and she gave a little shriek as she looked out the window. I went over to see, and there was a happy, fat little rat straddling the fence outside. While I certainly wasn't going to go out there to touch him, I thought he was really cute.

I've entertained the idea of setting up a bathouse in my backyard, but mostly what stops me is that I hear the guano they leave behind is pretty bad. So I guess I'll stick to chance sightings and zoo visits. :)
