It's a little later than I expected this to go up, but once you hit play and watch a few minutes I think you'll understand what made this video take a little longer. :)
As I've already said elsewhere, this was a great video, and Noel's appearance was a genuine (and pleasant) surprise. I thought you both brought up good points. I haven't actually seen the movie, but judging solely on what you guys discussed, I'm inclined to side with Angie - whatever potential this movie had, it was trying to fit two movies into one (and one of them was a blatant rip-off) and, in my experience, those rarely turn out well.
I first watched Carrie 2 at my friend Carrie's birthday party. (No, seriously, every year she watched Carrie and when The Rage came out she added it to the list.) I kinda dug the slasher bits at the end but, yeah, meh.
On the other hand, I'll make an argument for Rose Red being an actual sequel to Carrie. I don't know if it was intended or just worked out that way, but I'll make that argument anyway.
God help me, but I like this movie. Don't get me wrong; it's a bad movie. But I would see it's merely run-of-the-mill bad, as opposed to inept, which is what most of the other fauxquels to King's work -- like all of those Noel held up at the end (all of which I, too own...Gold help me AGAIN) -- are.
I like the entirety of the setup, actually. And I agree that where it falls apart is in deciding not to just be content with being its own movie. All of the sequel elements are terrible. That said, I like most of the acting -- particularly Emily Bergl and whichever of the Londons that is, and super-dick Dylan Bruno (whose brother, Chris, played the sheriff on "The Dead Zone"!) -- and I enjoy the movie every single time I watch it.
DO MORE OF THESE

Interesting. I haven't watched Rose Red yet, but when I do I'll have to keep that in mind.
DeleteAfter you've seen it we'll talk about why I think that, then. :)

I probably shouldn't...but I do.
D'oh! Typo! Make that "GOD help me again"!
DeleteAlthough if Gold wants to help me, I'll gladly accept.
As someone who loves Van Helsing, I will never put anyone down for liking a bad movie. :)
DeleteHah!
DeleteYeah, we've all got a few of those, don't we? It'd be a shame not to, really.
